• The story of Chateau Calon Segur dates back to 1147, and its name comes from two individuals: #Monseigneur_de_Calon , a prominent bishop of the town and owner of the oldest estate in Saint Estephe, and #Nicolas_Alexandre_de_Segur , owner of an estate in the Medoc. Calon Segur wine is named after these two individuals (as both territories are very famous wine producing areas in France).

• After several generations, the entire estate came to the possession of the Marquis de Segur. The de Segur family has played a significant role in the history of Bordeaux wine, owning several famous châteaux, including Château Lafite and Château Latour.

De Segur is credited with originating the idea behind

• The heart-shaped logo of Calon Segur” because of the quote that was once said:

“I make my wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon.

Although I produce wines in Lafite and Latour, my heart is always in Calon.”

• This famous quote has now been immortalized on the beautifully crafted heart-shaped label of Chateau Calon Segur wines. Chateau Calon Segur is also one of the three original Bordeaux vineyards in the Saint Estephe region. Originally, in 1825, the Chateau Montrose area was still a forest, not yet developed into the winery it is today. Because of the Segur family's immense power, not only Chateau Calon Segur wines are produced, but also renowned wines such as Chateau Phelan Segur, as well as Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Latour, and Chateau Mouton Rothschild.
